Salt bath nitration (Tenifer) is a thermo-chemical treatment where edge layers of steel materials are enriched with nitrate as well as with small amounts of carbon.
Thickness of composition layer is influenced by the material itself, periode and temperature of treatment and the composition of chemicals. Increasing amount of alloy will result in a decrease of thickness of composition layer, decrease of nitration depht and increase of surface hardness (constant conditions given).
