Straightening is reversing of not wanted part-deformation. Such deformations are often a result of heat treatments and transformations. Irregular internal stress can cause such deformations due to irregular cooling off processes. The straightening effect is achieved by controled plastic back-forming.

- reduction of grinding process
- more even hardening layer after grinding
